How does it work?

Every square inch of the FreeHand Design System's drawing surface is embossed with 2,580.64 microscopic patented pyramids.  As a result, a groove is created in each direction for the point of a writing instrument to travel in.  Therefore, the user cannot help but draw a perfectly straight line either vertically or horizontally.

What is required?

A fine point pen or 0.5mm mechanical pencil is recommended along with almost any standard paper weight.

How long will the surface last?

Under normal use the surface will not wear out; however, avoid exposing the surface to extreme temperatures.

Standard Design System

The "Standard System" is available for most available paper sizes. The surface is printed in inch scale (1", 1/4", 1/8"). On our A3 and A4 size systems the scale is printed in metric (1cm, 0.5cm) 

Note:  In order to draw angles on the standard system, you are required to rotate either the grid surface or the paper.

Rotary Design System

The "Rotary System" delivers all the line drawing ease and accuracy of the "Standard System", plus the ability to execute precise angles as simply as drawing straight lines without moving the paper.  These units contain a circular drawing surface which rotates on a pivot assembly.  Various angle degrees are marked along the outside edge of the grid and the user merely "dials" the disk to the desired angle and proceeds to draw.  The standard "Rotary" system is available for letter and ledger size paper and is printed in inch scale (1",1/4",1/8").

The "Rotary System" is also available in a special "Rotary Plus Series".  This surface is one directional and is recommended for precision drafting applications.   The "Rotary Plus Series" is printed in inch scale (1/4", 1/2") as well as engineering scale (1", 1/10").
